THINGS TO DO

Looe is famous for its shark fishing trips, but if you don't fancy fishing, a good alternative boat trip is to Looe Island, where you can find some lovely examples of rare plants, and spot plenty of wildlife, including grey seals and seabirds. Looe Marine Conservation Group can give you more information about the island and its wildlife. Other local attractions include The Monkey Sanctuary is another favourite for all the family. Support a charity and visit Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary offering a safe haven for monkeys since 1964. Nestled into the side of the south Cornish coast between Looe and Seaton, Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary cares for a range of different species of rescued monkeys, giving visitors an intimate insight to a working sanctuary and a chance to meet some of its amazing monkey residents and wildlife inhabitants. There’s a lot to do for the whole family who can take a tour of the monkey enclosures and learn about these fascinating animals from the team of expert carers. It’s not just monkeys though! Kids will love the wild play area where they can learn about the environment around them and let off some steam in the playground. Take a gentle stroll around the beautiful Wildlife Gardens and check out the sea view.
Another place for all you adrenalin lovers is the Zip at Adrenalin Quarry in South East Cornwall, is the UK’s maddest ever zip wire. Long, high, fast. Twin wires cross the flooded depths of the old quarry, sheer cliffs rise on either side. The Zip is the only place in the UK where you can just turn up and jump. No pre-booking, no hours of waiting around – we throw you off cliff within minutes of arrival. We're easy to find, just off the A38 main road. Perched at the top of our cliffs. The Giant Swing hangs 50ft off the ground, 150ft over water. You’re hoisted to 80° then plunged 3-at-a-time over the lake. Just when you think there’s no turning back, you pull out of the dive and experience zero gravity, before doing it all again – backwards. First reactions (after recovery time): ‘I was floating on air for 20 minutes afterwards.’ ‘The most amazing thing I’ve ever done.’ ‘Awesome!’ ‘Someone’s gonna pay for this!’ No need to book this either! Suitable for all ages 5 - 96
Looe is said to be a wonderful place to enjoy the New Year festivities, a time when many happy party-goers in fancy dress descend upon the town to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a magnificent display of fireworks.

Cornwall with its dramatic coastline and romantic history has long held a place of special affection in the hearts of British holiday makers and foreign visitors alike. The rugged coastline and superb beaches combine to offer some of the most glorious scenery to be found in these islands.
Inland too the rugged moors and softer country lanes offer endless opportunities for further exploration and on those cloudier days the Eden Project, Falmouth National Maritime Museum and the Tate at St. Ives offer splendid under cover diversions.
The National Trust is also well represented in Cornwall with miles of unspoiled coastline and many fine houses and gardens open to the public. The many other gardens in Cornwall are a special delight in the spring when they provide a blaze of dramatic colours.
The delightful town of Looe is easily reached by road and has the added advantage of being served by a pretty branch line connecting at Liskeard with the main London to Penzance line. Local bus services connect to Polperro and outlying villages and the city of Plymouth is also served by regular connections. Liskeard is the nearest point (about 8 miles) for connections with the National Express coach network. Local taxis are plentiful and inexpensive.
Also readily available are excellent water-sports facilities, fishing, diving, and boat hire, championship golf courses and pony trekking. For wet days the city of Plymouth is only a half hour away with Truro just about an hours drive. The north Cornish coast - Padstow, St.Ives etc can also be reached in about an hour.
